If you are a beginner chess player, who is striving to get better, you have probably entered the exciting world of chess tactics. Congratulations! There are many ups and downs ahead, of course, but gradually you will win more than lose and do it with full understanding. 

But how to achieve that faster? 

Chess books will come to the rescue! 

There are hundreds of different chess books for beginners, that can teach you chess strategy coming from the best players out there, and teach you about the history of this remarkable game. It can be a bit hard to navigate the sea of different books and make a choice even between the best books out there. So we are here to help you out a little and give you just a few authors and titles to check out.

Best chess books for beginners contain lots of examples and chess problems that will come in handy for your learning process. But the moves are coded in a certain way. As a side note, before you get to the books, familiarize yourself with the concept of chess notations. It’s a universally recognized and approved way of putting down moves and it’s widely used in tournaments of different scale as well as chess books.There are different types of chess books for beginners, and why not for advanced players too, that focus on different aspects of the game. On openings, on different attack tactics, and there are hundreds of chess books analyzing famous games in history. We want to give you just a small overview of where you can start and after reading these books, we hope it will feel more confident in choosing the next ones!   • Logical Chess: Move By Move (1957)
  This is a brilliant book by Irving Chernev, who was a prominent Ukrainian/American chess player born at the turn of the 20th century. He authored a few of the best chess books out there on chess strategy. He talks about the most favourable positions for your pieces and how to use them all to your advantage. In short, this is one of the best chess books for beginners.   
  • Back to Basics: Tactics (2007/2011)
  This is a great introduction to chess tactics by Dan Heisman, a United States Chess Federation National Master. It has examples, problems and generally an instructive material to help you fully grasp the concept of strategy when it comes to winning a chess game. It stands out from other chess books for beginners and has a very approachable style.    
  • Complete book of chess strategy: Grandmeister techniques from A to Z. 
  One of the best chess books by Jeremy Silman. As the title suggests already, this is a great guide of tactic, and not necessarily for beginners. It is quite useful for seasoned players as well, giving an insight into the logic behind choosing a strategy.
